EULAS is a Jean Monnet Network dedicated to fostering research, innovation, and collaboration between Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Our mission is to advance global understanding of European integration and strengthen the EU’s external influence by generating and disseminating knowledge on EU foreign policy and its dynamic relationship with Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
The network brings together 25 prestigious higher education institutions, including 10 from the European Union, 14 from Latin America, and 1 from the Caribbean, to create a powerful platform for transregional academic exchange. Over a 36-month period (December 2024 to November 2027), EULAS will develop a unique academic ecosystem that emphasises excellence, gender equality, and geographical diversity.
In today’s rapidly shifting international landscape, EULAS aims to enhance the effectiveness and relevance of EU policy towards the LAC region. We seek to:
Our aims and Objectives
Generate, discuss, and disseminate cutting-edge knowledge on EU-LAC relations and the EU’s external policies
Support the Erasmus+ goals by fostering continuous learning and public engagement;
Create a long-lasting space for dialogue between European and Latin American academic institutions and policy actors.
To achieve this, EULAS is structured around seven interconnected Work Packages (WPs), addressing both thematic and operational dimensions of EU-LAC relations. With our partners, we aim to establish a “network of networks” designed to share our research findings and host vibrant conversations around foreign policy, development, and academic cooperation, far and wide.
Our Approach
EULAS stands out for its:
Multiregional collaboration, uniting voices and perspectives from across continents;
Inclusive academic framework, where gender, regional balance, and institutional diversity are central;
Strategic dissemination model, combining newsletters, blogs, podcasts, videos, webinars, and social media to reach global audiences and amplify impact.
Through academic synergy and knowledge-sharing, EULAS contributes to shaping a more connected, informed, and effective EU policy approach toward Latin America and the Caribbean.
